After his 10 year reunion in September 2016, Kyle Cutrer noticed that a lot of his classmates did not know that there was a reunion taking place. This was no fault on those planning the reunion, just a simple case of 10 years later not everyone was still connected with each other. After doing some investigation and speaking with Mr. Corely at CHS, it was made known that there wasn't an official alumni association for the school. The school had been looking for a way to foster a relationship between the school and alumni, and Kyle saw this as a perfect opportunity to establish an association.
With approval from Mr. Corley, a focus group was formed and they met for the first time on November 9, 2016. Several meetings and countless hours later a board of directors was formed and executive officers were chosen. Articles of Incorporation were drafted and approved by the focus group on February 22, 2017 and submitted to the Secretary of State and approval was granted on March 27, 2017.
Following approval from the Secretary of State, the association applied for non profit status with the IRS and was granted 501(c)(3) status on May 5, 2017.
The association drafted by-laws and a membership fee schedule on July 19, 2017.
The first operating budget for partial year (July - December 2017) was approved on August 3, 2017. At that meeting the President was given the permission to advertise for the association and start membership drives.
