Charla Byrd, would be class of 80! Hi--I just found this site due to my sister, Angela Byrd, telling me about it. I graduated from Hershey High School in Hershey, PA in 1980 but felt a little torn between the two schools, Central and Hershey. I attended Central for my 9/10 year (and 8th grade in the district) and we moved to Hershey for my last 2 years of high school. However, I often wondered what happened to the friends I had for 3 years there. I knew and remember our beloved classmates who died. I was good friends with Eric Cheney and fondly remember going on my first car date with him. Although we were just good friends, he was my Student Council buddy for 2 years and we shared lots of fun times at the Disco (can't remember the name--not the Loading Dock but the other one.)

After high school I went on to college/grad school, and I am a middle school learning support teacher and dyslexia specialist. I am married to Steve (for almost 22 years) and have 2 daughters who are the lights of my life.

I'm glad you found the site, and even more glad you took the time to post in the forum! We need lots of alumni participation to make this site interesting.

I knew Eric as well. We were in different extracurricular activites, so the only time we really saw each other was in the few classes we shared. I went to Hartsell Elementary/Middle School the entire 8 years before Central. I was lucky enough to be "in the Middle School zone" when Hartsell converted. Of course, Hartsell is no more -- torn down as newer schools were built.

Anyway, if you have any photos, news of CCHS classmates, or suggestions for the site, please don't hesitate to ask for assistance.

Hey Charla, This is Shelley Basinger Hancock. How in the world have you been doing?
I sure wish you could make it to this 30 year class reunion. I do remember when you had to move to PA and we really hated to see you go. But all I could picture was that you would be in the "land of chocolate" and I got very jealous, lol....

I too am married with 2 sons (Clint is 21 and Shane is 10). I went on to college after HS and now work in the marketing dept. at a community college in Stanly County. I hope we can catch up at some point in the future. I see Julie and Kelly quite often so I will tell them about this website.
