We need staff/committee inputs for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We also need committees to identify, organize, and perform certain tasks, such as venue procurement, entertainment, picnic, golf, school gift, after-event album/DVD, decorations, gifts/prizes, etc, etc,.....

Indeed, we are in need of structure. Officers! I believe you are attuned to my suggestions in this regard, Doug. Many thanks. Dana. 06.24.09

Okay! I volunteer as the Secretary for both the Class of 1980 AND the 30-year Reunion Committee. I've created about 60% of what I envisioned for this site. The next vital part is a database of ALL alumni, registered on the forum or not. I'm researching existing FREE products, but the programmers were obviously not database designers! I think I'll just add the funtionality to the forum myself so they are both integrated. It will give us a single sign-on to access the forum, chat, search for alumni, and update contact information.

The database may take a couple of weeks to finish, but it's critical for keeping a single alumni contact list up-to-date!

Now, if the President and Treasurer positions were filled as easily ...

I thought Steve L was going to be President? I am willing to do anything but I do not want to step on anyone's toes. I have served on two non-profit Board of Trustees in western North Carolina and chaired one. Does the Treasurer need to be in the Charlotte/Concord area?

I discussed that topic (treasurer) at length with Dana & Grier. My feeling is the treasurer should be in N.C., assuming that's the reunion location. It's my experience that in-state checks work better with vendors. And the checks from alumni take less time to clear if not out-of-state. Being in the Charlotte/Concord area is a plus, but not necessarily a requirement.

I'm too busy making websites to do that, too!!

As I said earlier, I don't want to step on anyone's feet so to speak. But if no one is willing to step forward to chair the event, I am willing. I fill I am better qualified to do that than to deal with the financial side of things. We need to get going soon because any of the classmates coming from a longer distance need more time to plan. I was also under the impression there were going to be some planning meetings over the summer and I haven't heard about any to date.

Just throwing that out there. I just want to see this thing happen.
