Robin Dwayne Blackwelder (1966 - 2003), Class of 1984 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 1
HARRISBURG - Robin Dwayne Blackwelder, 37 of 7400 Hoffner Drive, Harrisburg, died at home after a courageous battle with cancer for the past two years.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harmony Baptist Church, Tom Query Road, Harrisburg. The Rev. Ronald Hargett and the Rev. Bruce Pope will conduct the service. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, and other times at the home.

Born January 14, 1966, in Cabarrus County, he is the son of Fay Lisk Blackwelder and the late Rev. Robert E. Blackwelder.

Robin was a 1984 graduate of Central Cabarrus High School. He was employed by Pennsylvania House Furniture in Monroe for 18 years, where he leaves behind many wonderful friends and coworkers. He also leaves behind a wonderful church family, many family members, medical personnel and staff who have attended him and his family during his illness.

He was a dedicated lifetime member of his church and served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He became an ordained minister July 21, 2002. Even though he was not able to fulfill his dream to preach the gospel, he touched many lives in the last two years. His main priority was to spend time with his family, especially his wife, Angel, and son Joshua. He was a devoted, loving husband and father who was dedicated to his family and God. His love for family and God was the driving force that made him a cancer survivor for the past two years.

Robin was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Blackwelder, on July 30, 1993, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Luther Blackwelder and the Rev. and Mrs. Blain Lisk. Aside from his mother, Fay Lisk Blackwelder, Mr. Blackwelder is survived by his wife, Angel Blackwelder; son, Joshua Robert Blackwelder of the home; sister, Muriel Dellinger of Charlotte; two brothers, Keith E. Blackwelder of Harrisburg, Billy R. Blackwelder and wife Terri of Concord; niece, Tracy Dellinger of Charlotte; two nephews, Steven Blackwelder of Concord and John Dellinger of Charlotte; his father and mother-in-law, Bob and Phyllis Garmon of Midland; sister-in-law, Teena Potts and her husband, Andrew, of Yucipa, CA.
