DAVIDSON - Gary Lynn "Slim" Hartsell, 59, Davidson, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at CMC-North East.

He was a son of the late Michael and Bonnie Rowell Hartsell. He was employed by the city of Concord Parks & Recreation Department and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Concord, where he was a trustee and youth leader. He was a 1968 graduate of Central Cabarrus High School, and was a baseball and basketball coach in Cabarrus County.

Survivors include wife Pamela Elwood Hartsell; sons Chris Hartsell, Enochville; John Hartsell, Concord; and Patrick "Bubba" Hartsell, Davidson; sisters Juanita Huneycutt, Stanfield; Betty Dennis, Concord; Cornelia Alexander, Indian Trail; and Colleen McEachern, Lexington; brothers Ken, Jay Lee and Ernie Hartsell, all of Concord, and Lance Hartsell, Conover; and four grandchildren.

A service was held Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Handy. Burial at church cemetery. Memorials: Shiloh United Methodist Church, 4149 Odell School Road, Concord, NC 28027. Hartsell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
